WTTR Sports Team

Charlie Beckhardt
Sports Director

Charlie got his start at WTTR in 1980, completely by chance, while still a senior at Westminster High School. After stints as a weekend and fill-in announcer, and later a news reporter, Charlie was given the opportunity to call his first high school football game.  That was back in 1984, and he hasn't stopped since - a span of almost 200 games over three different decades.  Later he was named WTTR's Sports Director.  He has also handled the play-by-play for WTTR's coverage of high school basketball and entered his 20th season in that capacity in December 2005. Charlie has a true, lifelong passion for local sports (he's been keeping score at Orioles games since he was six years old).  He also enjoys coaching Little League Baseball, playing golf, and listening to a wide range of music.  He has a bachelor's degree in computer science from Towson State University, and lives in Finksburg with his wife, Cyndy, and their son, Jacob.

Bryan McLean
Sports Reporter

Bryan has worked at WTTR since 1987. He began as a part timer working Saturday evenings and covering High School Basketball games as a color commentator. Along the way he has been the station's Traffic Director (1990-91) and Business Manager (1993-1998). He currently announces High School and College basketball and football games and occasionally goes out on the road and works remote broadcasts. He still helps MC the Athlete of the Year banquet (he hosted the Wednesday morning program for nine years) and MC's the annual Birds Are Back Party every April. He has in the past worked several air shifts including the Mid Day show for 3 years and was a fill-in during other times of the day and in the news room. Bryan also covers sporting events as a play-by-play announcer for Adelphia Cable including Frederick Keys broadcasts and hosts a weekly interview program (Sidelines).  Bryan is a graduate from Westminster High School and he received a degree in Mass Communications from Towson State (now Towson University) in 1989. He lived in Westminster from 1978 until 2005.  He recently moved to Hanover, PA with his new bride, Beth. His interests include sports, golf, walking, reading and traveling.
