21st Annual Festival of Wreaths at the Carroll Arts Center

Now in its 21st year, the Festival of Wreaths at the Carroll Arts Center has become one of the most eagerly awaited holiday events in the County. Featuring approximately 150 uniquely-decorated theme wreaths that range from wacky to whimsical and from elegant to eclectic, there is an amazing level of creativity, engineering, and generosity exhibited in the diverse entries.

The Festival of Wreaths will be open to the public for viewing and bidding from November 23 through December 2. Hours are 10 am – 7 pm daily, except on Sunday, December 2 when bidding closes at 4 pm. Admission is free. Proceeds from the 10-day silent auction benefit the Carroll County Arts Council. Previous Wreath Festivals have been spectacular successes generating an average of $25,000 per year in support of the Arts Council’s wide variety of public programming.

The Festival exemplifies holiday generosity in many ways, through the valuable wreaths that are contributed, as well as the generous bids from the community. In the past, wreaths have been adorned with a wide range of items and decorations including semi-precious gems, $50 bills, sock monkeys, computer mice, thumb tacks, eyeglasses, duct tape, Legos®, flip flops, painted crab shells, used auto parts, origami, wine corks, autographed sports memorabilia, duct tape, and even toilet paper rolls!

The public is invited to vote for their favorites throughout the event and awards in several categories will be presented on Sunday morning. Wreath bidding ends promptly at 4 pm on Sunday, December 2. High bidders need not be present at auction close.

Special events during the Festival include:

Saturday, Nov 24 – “A Christmas Story” (3 pm)
This beloved holiday movie follows the wintry exploits of youngster Ralphie Parker who spends most of his time dodging a bully and dreaming of his ideal Christmas gift, a “Red Ryder air rifle.” Free. No advance tickets. Seating is first come first served. (1983; Rated PG; 1 hr 34 mins)

Friday Nov. 30 – Motown & More “A Holiday Celebration” (7:30 pm) $25-30
