Carroll Arts Center Announces the 16th Annual Foreign Film Festival!


Film Lovers in Carroll County (FLICC) has chosen the selections for the 16th Annual Foreign Film Festival to be held at the Carroll Arts Center on Fridays in February.  There will be two screenings of each film at 1 pm and 7:30 pm.  Tickets are $7 for adults; $6 for ages 25 & under and ages 60 & up. The subscription price is $22 and all tickets must be for either 1 pm OR 7:30 pm, no mix & match. CCAC Members save an additional 10% on all prices.


JeannieBird Baking Company will be sponsoring the series.  All films are shown with English subtitles.  The schedule is as follows:


February 8 – “Truman”

Spain/Argentina; 2015; 1 hr 48 min; TV-14 for sexual content and nudity

When terminally-ill actor Julián is visited by his childhood friend, the two men share emotional moments while they finalize funeral arrangements and find a home for Julián’s beloved dog.


February 15 – “Dukhtar”

Pakistan; 2014; 1 hr 33 min; Not rated

In the mountains of Pakistan, a mother and her ten-year-old daughter flee their home on the eve of the girl’s marriage to a tribal leader. A deadly hunt for them begins.


February 22 – “Cinema Paradiso”

Italy; 1988; 3 hrs; R for sexual content, nudity, and language

The beautiful, enchanting story of a Sicilian boy who is mesmerized by movies at his local theater, where he is befriended by the projectionist who encourages him to pursue his dream of being a filmmaker.
