Carroll County’s most talented pre-teens take the stage this November at the Carroll Arts Center in a fully staged production of the smash DreamWorks animated motion picture, “Madagascar – A Musical Adventure Jr.” Audience members can follow their furry friends as they escape from their home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and travel on a journey to the crazy world of King Julien’s Madagascar.

Featuring over 40 students in grades 6-8, the production is a culmination of a rigorous rehearsal process under the direction of Julie Herber from Maryland Ensemble Theatre, and musical direction by Lindsay Sier, the Arts Council’s Theatre Coordinator. With brand new songs sure to keep everyone dancing in their seats, the Carroll Arts Center’s stage will transform into the colorful, jungle world of the island of Madagascar.

Alex the Lion (DJ Goodman) and his best friends Marty the Zebra (Helena Cruickshank), Melman the Giraffe (Trent Lomax), and Gloria the Hippo (Tori Globus) have spent their whole lives in blissful captivity before an admiring public and with regular meals provided for them. Everything changes when curiosity overcomes Marty and he plots their escape, aided by everyone’s favorite wacky penguins. “These energetic actors bring a positive spirit to the stage in this family-friendly show that will leave the audience smiling,” said Lindary Sier, CCAC’s Theatre Coordinator.

Performances will be held on Friday, November 9 at 7 pm; Saturday, November 10 at 3 pm and 7 pm; and Sunday, November 11 at 3 pm. Tickets are $8 for Adults and $6 for Students & Seniors; Arts Center members receive a 10% discount. The Carroll Arts Center is located at 91 West Main Street in downtown Westminster.
