Pieter Borghans dropped in 22 points in back-to-back games, leading the Cavaliers boys basketball team to a 4-game winning streak. The senior forward shot 9-of-14 from the field, and added 2 assists and 2 rebounds in a 5-point win over Liberty. Then he scored 22 again on 7-of-14 shooting in a 6-point road win at Catoctin.

In collecting 9 wins for the week, Cavaliers junior wrestler Evan Owen eclipsed 100 wins for his career. And he did it in sterling fashion, going 8-0 in the Curley Friar Open to help South Carroll claim the team tournament title. Evan is ranked #1 in the state in Class 1A/2A and has a season record of 26-3 with 20 pins.

Cru Boog went 9-0 with 7 pins at the Kenwood Duals, leading Man Valley to the tournament victory. Cru wrestles at 215, and was named by the tournament coaches as the Outstanding Upper-weight Wrestler. And in his victory over Glen Burnie, the junior also picked up his 100th career win. The defending county champion’s overall record now stands at 31-2 with 23 pins.
